Icy Road

I drove myself this morning to work. I didn't realize the weather would be getting bad later in the afternoon. After lunch, I've heard people talking how bad the road was. I was getting worried. Some co-workers already called they couldn't make it to work. There were some accidents already. I hurriedly called my hubby and he would picked me up at work. I left the truck at work right now and we will pick it up tomorrow since the weather will be okay. So glad to be home safe.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

New Year, New Beginning. Time is gone so fast. Resolutions? Not really. I quit doing it for awhile now since I know I couldn't stick for what I am aiming for. I am just hoping for a better year for everybody and more blessings from God.
We celebrated the new year with the brother in laws. Steve (brother in law) brought his girlfriend and his friend. We were so busy before the party. My hubby and I had to work and I felt like there wasn't enough time to prepare everything. Too bad I got sick during my time off so I couldn't do anything but laid down in bed.
But, the party went out good. We had fun. We stayed up till 2 in the morning.
Right now, we are just relaxing at home. Such a nice feeling.

TRAVELS

We had the chance to visit few places in the states. I even had the chance to visit the Philippines for the second time. I couldn’t believed that we were able to do it this year. But I am so glad.
First visit is in NEVADA. The waiting is over. Mom together with Steve (brother in law) dropped us in the airport early in the morning. It was our first time that we flew together. We found out that there were no seat number in Southwest Airlines. We weren’t able to sit with each other. We arrived safe in Las Vegas airport. We had to wait for Christian (cousin). We were glad to see him. He took us to all Filipino restaurant that he knows and I was enjoying it. Dan just let me eat anything I wanted since we don’t have it in Omaha. We went to Hoover Dam, stratosphere and the strip. It was pretty but we don’t think we’re going to go back soon.
Second visit in in SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA. The main event that Dan had to go. I had the chance to visit Bernie, my friend in Omaha who moved back to San Diego because she couldn’t stand the weather condition. The day that the convention Dan was going with his friend, the Maroon, toured me around San Diego. The place was awesome. Beautiful scenery indeed.
Third visit is in CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. It wasn’t a fun trip. I had to renew my passport since I had to go home to attend my brother’s wedding. We used Ann’s car for an 8 hour drive. Dan wasn’t happy to drive to Chicago. He was in a hurry to go home. We only stayed for 4 hours and had to be back in Omaha. I wanted to drive but I couldn’t since I didn’t have enough sleep. We stopped by in outlet center in Iowa and had dinner. It was a tiring trip but yet glad that I witnessed the city of Chicago.
Fourth visit is in SOUTH DAKOTA. The most awaited trip since me and Dan had invited mom and dad for the said state. We were worried about whether they would like it or not. We rented a van for them. We wanted them to be comfortable. The vacation was so relaxing. We visited the places that we wanted to explore. We were so glad that mom and dad enjoyed their vacation with us. Can’t wait for the next trip with them.
Lastly, CEBU, PHILIPPINES. I have to attend my brother’s wedding. My second visit since I resides in the US for 4 years.

iLasik

I have been wearing my glasses since I started working in the store. I used not to but it got worst after 2 months I have been working. I really don't know why but all of a sudden, I got a terrible headaches and got dizzy. I had to call in one time since I couldn't bear the pain anymore. When I was a kid, I loved to borrow my mom's glasses and had to try them on with me. But when I started wearing it, I hated it. I am wearing contact lens instead of eyeglasses now.
Till I've heard about Lasik and have to research about everything of LASIK technology. Her vision is back to 20/20. She can go to places anymore without having her pair of glasses.
What is even wonderful about it is NASA and the US Military have been offering it especially to their personnel who are facing extreme, physically demanding conditions to help improve their eye sight. It has also been validated that Lasik exceeds all established standards of safety and effectiveness. It is really a good opportunity for them.

South Dakota Trip

We spent 2 nights in South Dakota. Mom and Dad went with us. We were kinda worried if they would be having fun. We are glad they did. We visited the tourist attractions there except the Rushmore Cave. They couldn't take the walking, plus, the stairs were too high for them. It was ok. We were supposed to stop by in Corn Palace but I was asleep when we passed by. Oh well.
I couldn't wait to have another trip with Mom and Dad again. Maybe 2 years from now since me and hubby aren't planning to go somewhere next year.

Digital Makeover

I don't have enough knowledge when it comes to the digital world. I love taking pictures and I only know just the basic on how to upload it to show it to my friends. I've been traveling on few states lately and I wanted to make it as a photo show. I am so thankful that I found Roxio online and I made a photo show. I loved it because I could add music and could make captions from my pictures. If it's not for Roxio, my pictures would be just simple and boring. I am so glad to some of my friends that they could do their blog more unique and turned out to be more lively. I am so thankful for Roxio Extreme Digital Makeover. I thought me and my aunt would be having a Chinese Buffet but she headed to the mall right away. I didn't argue since on Thursday, I am going with my other aunt to China Buffet. We just had Japanese food instead. It was yummy. Then, we went shopping. Oh boy, we were getting crazy for the prices. It was cheap. So, once again, I ended up buying 3 pairs of sandals, not to think, I bought 5 pairs of shoes last week. But what can I say, it's hard to resist the prices that they are having right now. Younker's store has one of the best store in the mall. We went to other 3 stores before going home. The last place we went was awesome. Since I've been wanting to shop something for my relatives back home, specifically for guys, I found a good deal for everybody. When we were in the register, the Filipina, who are working in the store, showed us I saved close to $400 but I only paid $33. My aunt saved $550 and she was paying for only $31. Awesome Prices. Not sure if it's still be there when I am going back next week, but I am hoping. If not, I'm going to other store, maybe I could find cheaper too.

Good Dinner

I am glad hubby found a pair of shoes that he liked. He is so picky when it comes to shoes. He has the one to buy it or else it will be given away or put it in the closet. He got it from Famous Footwear. I found something that I thought I liked but when I tried it on, it wasn't comfortable so I didn't waste my money. We went to Baker's to buy meat. We were supposed to go to Kohl's but I changed my mind. I wanted to go to Asian Store instead since it has been awhile I haven't been there. I took my time to walk around the store since hubby wanted to go to best buy. I bought what I wanted and I was happy. I had fried fish and grits for dinner. I made sauce for the fish. It includes soy sauce, vinegar with pepper, green tomato. So yummy, I had a good dinner.

What's up with our cats? It started as Daphne had a plastic bag from her tail and hubby teased her with her toy "mouse". She jumped unto the couch and she just realized that she had the plastic bag with her still so she was freaking out. She ran in circle from the kitchen to the living room, she managed to unplug what was behind the television. She went to the basement and hubby had to follow her to grab the plastic bag from her, while both of us were laughing out loud. But for her, she was so mad that she was hiding under the boxes and hubby had to find her. She was growling and hissing but yet we were still laughing till OJ went down to the basement and started attacking her. But not literally. They were just growling and hissing and we had to separate them. Hubby and I had to hold each cat to avoid the fighting again. It lasted for 2 hours I guess. Daphne was feeling better but OJ still not. At this moment, we had to lock him in the computer room because he is still mad. We don't know what's going on with him. Hubby had to much for him so he's locked up in the room the entire night. We give him food, water and litter box for his own. Hopefully he'll be better tomorrow or else he'll be in the room still. Feels like the first day we just had Daphne in our apartment and OJ was so mad.

Free Taco @ Work

When i arrived at work, my co-worker told me we had taco in the break room. I asked her why. It's because we had 30 days accident free at work. That is good. Free lunch for us. Our store has been doing good since last year. It is the newest store in Omaha and so far, we are #2 and it is not bad at all for just a 3 year old store. It is the cleanest store and the employees are friendly.
We have been getting our bonus every quarter. Plus, we have free food every time we get our bonus. It really helps a lot.
Back to the taco, it was really good. We had ice cream cup too for our dessert. We were having a feast. yummy.

Got My Passport Back

After 3 weeks of renewing my passport in Chicago, I had it in the mail yesterday. But since we weren't home, they just left a note that I had to pick up in the post office today. I had to left early before going to work to stop by in the post office. I was curious what was inside my mail but hubby said it should had been my passport. He was right, it is passport. I am so happy because it means I can go home to attend my brother's wedding. I called my brother and told him about it and he said we will meet soon. wink.

I did visit the site and I found it so helpful especially that I am working and don't have time to cook most of the time. There are 5 chefs that shared their recipe and 5 of them sounds interesting. If I have to pick who is the best chef, out of the 5 domestic seafood recipe, I liked the Mississippi chef's recipe by Chef John Currence. It's called Mississippi Redfish Courtboullion with Seafood Dirty Rice. I love seafood because it's healthy and growing up with rice on every meal, the recipe sounds really good. I bet my family will love it if I try to make the recipe since everybody in the family loves seafood and rice. For the next family gathering, which is very soon, I'll be making this recipe. I can't wait and I can't wait for their comment about the said recipe. I like the recipe because it sounds delicious. Also, another reason why I love seafood because it's fresh and it's local and it has a great taste. My meal is complete when I have my seafood on the table.

Spent time alone

Instead of having my Monday off, I switched on Friday. I attended the mass for the Filipino-American that is held every first Friday of the month. At the same time, I had to ask favor for the Filipino priest that needed for the baptism of my friend's daughter.
Before going to the church, I've been wanting to go to the mall by myself. I just wanted to spend time alone. I spent 4 hours in the mall, bought a lot of clothes. It was a bargain for most part and I was so happy. I went to the bank to deposit some money and straight to wal-mart to buy the stuff that my aunt told me for her box. Then I went home and took a nap before hubby arrived from work.
Spent some time with hubby before going to church. I made skillet lasagna for him. That's my new dish that I found out from the magazine that so easy to make. I've been searching for a recipe that is easy to cook lately since I don't have much time to spend in the kitchen.
Feel so good to hear the mass again. We had a potluck dinner after. It's a tradition for the organization. We had fun.
It was a good day for me. I had fun just being alone and be able to do what I've been planning lately.

People at Work

Lately, I don't like the people around at work. So much drama going on. I guess you can find them anywhere you are. It's getting old if it happens everyday though. For some reasons, I am trying to be fair with everybody but sometimes, you just have to express your own thoughts and hoping that person realize what she's been doing. I just can't help not to be mean sometimes.
Another thing is, I wanted to move to other area. I am getting sick of my job and I can't stand my supervisor sometimes. I have nothing against with her but some things on her that makes me irritated sometimes. She is nice but if you're doing something that she doesn't like it, seems like the world has ended. She just has to learn that we have life outside work. Feels like I am being choked with her sometimes.
But oh well, that's life sometimes.
I have been wanting to update my blog lately but I am too tired when I get home from work. Even during my days off, I couldn't make it.

Cheese French

My in-laws visited us today. It's been awhile since we haven't seen each other. It's over a month i think. We were just busy and both me and hubby got sick. I am so glad to see them this morning and we had a good conversation.
Me and hubby went out to eat after they left. I was craving for cheese french and fries so we went to Don and Millie's. It was good. We went to TJ Max after we ate. Hubby dropped me in the store first and he went to the store that he likes. He went to find me after in the store. I found a good pair of shoes for him and a tank top for me for a reasonable prices. I tried not to spend much lately since i am trying to save a little for our upcoming trips.
We went home and took a nap. It was nice to relax in our day off. I'll be calling my mom soon and I suppose I'll be ironing our clothes after. I need to do the laundry too. It's been 2 weeks or more that I haven't do the laundry. I feel so lazy to do that kind of stuff. hehehe

Caught in the Act

Work is slow today. We had good coverage in apparel too. It was an easy night for all of us. We were done early and we stayed in the fitting room and we had a talked about getting drank. We were just having so much fun that i couldn't help not to laugh out so hard. Well, it's my trademark at work too. They know it's me if they could hear me laughing from their respective areas.
Our Co-Manager said from the radio telling the fitting room person that sounded like we were done and having so much fun since he could hear my laughing from electronics department...hahaha...it's kinda far from the fitting room so it was hilarious when he said it. My face was turning red at the same time was laughing. uh oh, somebody's in trouble. lol. but nah, he was teasing me and was even laughing while talking in the radio. I am happy every time i make people laugh. I don't like drama's in life anyways.
Also, another thing that had happened at work earlier was i had a customer asking for something. I showed him the direction but he asked me if i could walked with him and told him sure i could. He told me he would go to the store often since i am working there and told him that would be a good idea so that we could have some sales. lol...He asked me where am i came from and told him I came from the Philippines. He has a friend from Cavite and the conversation was ended since he found the stuff that he was looking. He then told me to tell my husband that he is a lucky guy to have me as his wife. hehehe. I am so touched and proud.
I had to do some grocery shopping for my recipe that I'll be making tomorrow. That will be our lunch.

Less Time

I have been so busy since the month of July started. So many things to do but less time to do everything. I realize that I only like to travel but not every month. I wanted to relax more and travel less...I mean, I am not complaining to be able to go somewhere else but it's too much for me if you have to go somewhere every month. If the plan will push through, we might gonna go to South Dakota end of next month. I am hoping it will move though. I might going to the PI on October too...sigh... The fact that it's so expensive to travel don't excite me. I always think how much money are we going to spend. Especially lately that the economy isn't good, not advisable to travel. We will not going anywhere next year since we already have a plan of something else. I hope we will make it next year though. I won't prevail yet but it's gonna be for our future.

Lazy Sunday

I fell so lazy today. We woke up early and had breakfast at Taco Bueno. It was okay. We went to wal-mart to do grocery shopping. After that, we just stayed in the house the entire day. I even called my friend and my aunt that I won't be going to their places because I feel so lazy to go out. I have to work tomorrow though. I offered to work on my day off since 2 more days, we will be having our inventory. I can't wait to have Wednesday off because I will be going out with my aunt.

Bored

I am bored. I can't wait for our short trip. It's been awhile we haven't gone anywhere since we are always working. It's time for us to have some fun.
I didn't have fun last 4th of July. I was working. I was sad I couldn't join the family. I was sad the day before the holiday. Probably I was stressing myself too much. I can't help it but I need to control it as much as possible.
I wish we can go now to unwind ourselves but I have to wait. Patient is a virtue as what the saying goes.

Storm

We had a bad storm that hit our place last Friday. I checked the weather that morning and I found out we were having a thunderstorm in the afternoon. I still managed to go out and went shopping in Marshall's, Famous Footwear and Target. I even bought more food that we had to bring to the concert. But when hubby came home, He said we wouldn't go since it was nasty outside. I tried calling Evelyn to tell her that we weren't going but I couldn't have the chance to talk to her since they were trying to close the Garden Center quick. I tried to call her few times till me and hubby decided to go out and get Kentucky Fried Chicken. We tried to beat the storm but we failed. After 2 minutes since we left the house, the storm hit on us. We decided to go back. It was scary since we couldn't see anything and the tornado siren was on. We didn't have a tornado but the siren was on because of the wind. It was 90mph. Imagine that. There were hails too that was about the size of the marble. We ran from the garage to our house, it just took us 30 seconds but we were soaked when we got inside the house. It was really bad. Dad called us and he said they didn't have a power and we might gonna have them on that night. We were watching the news and the concert was canceled. The storm just ended up for only 10 minutes and it caused a big damaged in Omaha. Especially on my aunt's area, they didn't have a power for 2 days.
whew, I'm glad the storm was over. It was still unbelievable. Felt like we were just dreaming but we are just glad nobody got hurt.

Two Occasions In A Day

There were two occasions had happened yesterday. The first one was sad. We had to attend Uncle Ned's burial. He was a friend here in Omaha. He was so nice to everybody. In every event before, He was always there. He was one of the officers in the Filipino-American Organization. We found out that He had a lung cancer when we had our first Friday of the month mass. He was telling us how he'd been through from being admitted to the hospital and how he had his radiation went. We could hear how bad his cough was & saw his skin being affected on his illness. Couple weeks after, my aunt left a voice message on my phone saying the Uncle Ned passed away. It was really sad. But the good thing is, He wouldn't suffer anymore & God took away his pain shorter. The gospel of the mass yesterday was so nice. It was about him how He served God all his life. He even had the chance to have the blessing for the sickly people. For me, He is such a lucky guy that He had been prepared on his death. He knew that his death would come soon & he had been preparing himself. I know that He is in heaven and been watching His loved ones on earth. May You rest in peace Uncle Ned.
The second occasion that I had was our 4th year wedding anniversary. Nothing fancy happened. We just went out to watch a movie & dined out after. We made a plan that we wouldn't give any present for each other since we had it in advance and we have to save for our coming trip. Hubby had to work since his co-worker still on vacation. Before hubby went home, I took my friend to our house to get those old clothes from me instead of giving it away to Goodwill. After awhile, I took her to the mall and bought her some stuff. She was having a good time and we're hoping to do it again next time.
